SFRS Service at Saint Giles Edinburgh, Celebrating 200 years of the Fire Service and its founding father James Braidwood.

On Wednesday this week 23/10/24.

The SFRS held a service that was attended by Princess Anne along with many VIP invited guests, at Saint Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh.

This was to commemorate the 200 year anniversary  of Fire fighting in Scotland of  the SFRS as we know it today, and to celebrate the man behind the first ever municipal fire service located in Edinburgh, which was the first in the world, this was started by the legend that is James Braidwood the father of all fire brigades and rescue services as we know it today all over the world.

All the team in attendance on the day from the Scottish Fire Brigades Heritage Trust pass on their thanks for the invitations and well done to everyone involved with making the day a great success and a memorable occasion for SFRS and the Braidwood family.
