Preservation Through Operation

Merry Christmas from us all at the Scottish Fire Brigades Heritage Trust

We would just like to thank all our supporters, partner agencies along with everyone that came to over the 130 events we attended this year and to the Museum in Greenock, the feedback and engagement has been overwhelming again this year.

Special thanks has to go to all our volunteers as none of this would be possible without their hard work and dedication to the trust, thank you all.

This year was a very special year for the Scottish Fire and Rescue service along with the Braidwood family in celebrating the formation of the first municipal fire service in the world in Edinburgh under the command and leadership of James Braidwood which was 200 years ago this year.

The museum at Greenock had a record amount of openings this year along with over 130 events attended by the Heritage Trust, these were to support the SFRS community engagement teams, our own organised events sharing the history of the Fire Service across Scotland, SFRS Family Support and the Fire Fighters Charity, Ceremonial Duties but to mention a few on a long list of activities. We also had our annual concert in September this year which was a great success with the Royal Regiment of Scotland Band, which was an amazing evening of entertainment and plans are already in place for 2025.

We will update the website, along with Facebook, Instagram, Linked in and X with the very many events, Museum openings and organised special events like the concert for 2025 very shortly, so please check our social media platforms for updates.

We would also like to extend a very safe and Merry Christmas to all operational staff working during the festive period in not just the Fire Service but across all the emergency services and partner agencies.

So Merry Christmas to one and all with a massive thank you from us for making it another exceptional year of fantastic memories, support and engagement.

Thank you and Merry Christmas.
