These cap badges were commissioned by the Heritage Trust as initially they were only issued in limited numbers to serving members of the service when it changed from a fire brigade to a fire and rescue service in 2005. The badge has the eight pointed star as a background with the outer ring of the badge being red with the wording “STRATHCLYDE FIRE & RESCUE SERVICE”, the centre of the badge is enamel and the insignia shows the fire and water symbols between two thistles. The rear of the badge has two fixing locators and retaining pin.
