This Volvo FL6-18 was one of a batch of nine Volvos delivered to Strathclyde Fire Brigade, with the bodywork by Emergency One UK, to be issued to Retained Stations. The Brigade policy at the time was Retained Stations were to receive new Volvos and Whole Time were to receive new Scania’s.
It was delivered new to Balloch Retained Station in 1993 and served there until 2002 when it was replaced by a Rescue Pump Ladder. The appliance then went to Dunoon as the second appliance staying there until 2006.
In 2006, the vehicle was taken “off the run” and was later sold to David Mcausland who has since preserved it. The vehicle is still owned by David and displayed by the kind permission of The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Heritage Trust.
